(WASHINGTON) -- Jobless claims wrapped up the month of January by falling to 331,000 last week, the Labor Department reported on Thursday. For the week ending Feb. 1, the number of people filing for benefits dropped by 20,000. The previous week, claims stood at 351,000 -- an upward revision of 3,000.
The four-week average, meanwhile, went up, increasing by 250 to 334,000.
On Friday, Americans will get a better picture of how the job market fared last month when the Labor Department releases its monthly employment report at 8:30 a.m. ET
