Weekly Jobless Claims Fall Ahead of January Jobs Report

For the week ending Feb. 1, the number of people filing for benefits dropped by 20,000. The previous week, claims stood at 351,000 -- an upward revision of 3,000.

The four-week average, meanwhile, went up, increasing by 250 to 334,000.

On Friday, Americans will get a better picture of how the job market fared last month when the Labor Department releases its monthly employment report at 8:30 a.m. ET
