(NEW YORK) -- Americans won’t just be going shopping this holiday season -- they’ll also be traveling. A new survey of 2,300 travelers finds six in 10 Americans expect to take at least one vacation before January, a 7 percent jump compared to the same time last year. The survey by MMGY Global, a marketing services firm, also finds that travelers believe vacations are more affordable now than in recent years and feel safer about traveling compared to 2012.
While more Americans are expected to get away between now and January, the survey also finds that the amount of time people have to take vacation is down. “Although leisure travelers will continue to watch their spending and look for the best deals possible, these data suggest that the recovery experienced by the travel industry during the past 18 months will extend well into 2014,” Steve Cohen, an executive for MMGY Global, told the Los Angeles Times.
