How to Tackle This Year's Black Friday Shopping

b_250_0_16777215_00_images_obgrabber_2013-11_e3ed1be2cf.jpgiStock/Thinkstock (NEW YORK) -- If you're gearing up for a Black Friday shopping run, stores may not be as crowded as you think. This year, only about 13% of shoppers plan to go to the mall on the real Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, when crowds usually pack stores in search of the best deals. This number is down from 20% four years ago.

This year, every day of the week is like Black Friday, so you don't have to wait overnight in front of a store to get the best deals. A number of retailers, including Walmart, are trying to get shoppers in the holiday spirit a bit early by providing pre-Black Friday sales all week long. Walmart says it will be offering deals on popular video games and electronics.

Shoppers can even avoid the mayhem of the mall all together. Many people think advertised deals are only available in stores so they camp out for hours, but Mark Locastro of DealNews said their data indicated that 70% of this year's Black Friday deals will be available online.
