-- The Kinks' Dave Davies has long been fascinated by spirituality and Eastern philosophy, having practiced meditation and yoga since he was in his early twenties. The 67-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has a section of his official website called Spiritual Planet that offers a forum for discussing such topics as metaphysics, the paranormal, psychic research and astrology, and he's hosted special events and workshops that focus on his beliefs.
Now, the influential guitarist has published an electronic book called Heal: A Guide to Meditation that's devoted to his daily method for relaxation and spiritual healing. Among the subjects Davies covers in the book are picking a location to meditate, how long one should meditate, dealing with upsetting thoughts and building a personal shrine.
The 32-page digital book is illustrated with ink-and-pen drawings created by Dave and also includes an exclusive series of color photos. It currently is available for the Kindle at Amazon.com. The book also has an official Facebook page.
Davies, who suffered a debilitating stroke in 2004, credits meditation for helping him lower his blood pressure and regain his health. After a long hiatus, he returned to touring last year. His latest solo album, I Will Be Me, was released in June.
