-- Peter Frampton is preparing to release a mini-album featuring musical pieces he created for his 2013 collaboration with the Cincinnati Ballet. Hummingbird in a Box, which hits stores on June 24, is a suite of seven songs the veteran guitar whiz composed with Nashville-based songwriter Gordon Kennedy, with whom he's worked on his previous three studio efforts. The music from Hummingbird in a Box was debuted at a series of April 2013 performances by the Cincinnati Ballet at the city's Aronoff Center for the Arts.
Those shows featured Frampton and his band accompanying the dance company by playing some of his classic songs as well as the new pieces.
Framptron says about the project, "Writing for dance was a wonderfully freeing experience. There were no boundaries. We were able to push the composing envelope."
Adds, Kennedy, "Songwriters and musicians create music to move people. This was beautiful, graceful and instantly gratifying!"
As previously reported, Frampton will be on hand to give an introductory speech on May 6 when the Cincinnati Ballet gives a New York City performance that will feature some of the Hummingbird in a Box material.
Meanwhile, Frampton has now lined up more than 30 tour dates this year, including solo headlining dates, joint shows with The Doobie Brothers and Frampton's Guitar Circus concerts with special guest Buddy Guy. Peter's itinerary kicks off with a June 22 performance in Cincinnati. Check out his full schedule at Frampton.com/Live.
