E Street Band's Little Steven Says He Doesn't Know if Springsteen Will Schedule New 2013 US Gigs
-- Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band wind down their Wrecking Ball tour on July 28 in Kilkenny, Ireland, although the recent addition of a one-off performance at Brazil's Rock in Rio Festival in September has sparked hopes that the Boss will schedule more American concerts this fall.
"I know that Bruce is off in August. But what happens in October-November, I don't know," Van Zandt insists. He adds, "It's possible we've passed the point where it's even possible [to add dates] now."
Little Steven points out that the plan has always been to end the tour in September, although the fact that he's been "hearing rumors on the street" to the contrary makes him unsure.
"Half the time [the rumors are] true, so I never know," he says. "In this case I don't think we are [going to play more concerts]."
Van Zandt also commented about the recent Rolling Stone report that Springsteen has been recording new material for a follow-up to his Wrecking Ball album. Steven tells the magazine that news of the Boss working on new tunes is just part of an ongoing pattern for the prolific songwriter.
"Bruce is always cutting things, always writing things and always recording," he maintains. "[H]e literally always has an album in his pocket. He usually has two of them."
With regard to the upcoming project, Van Zandt also insists he doesn't know "what shape that will take, who the group will be [or] when it will come out."
