-- The long-in-the-works Jimi Hendrix biopic, All Is by My Side, will get its world premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival, which is scheduled to run from September 5 through September 15. The movie stars Andre Benjamin, aka Andre 3000 of the hip-hop duo OutKast, and follows Hendrix as his career catches fire while performing in England during 1967 and '68.
All by My Side was written and directed by John Ridley, whose credits include penning the story for the film Three Kings and serving as head writer for The Wanda Sykes Show. Actresses Imogen Poots and Hayley Atwell portray Hendrix's respective girlfriends Linda Keith and Kathy Etchingham.
Another interesting music-related flick set to premiere at the Toronto fest is Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon, a documentary about the man who managed such stars as Alice Cooper, Blondie and Luther Vandross. The movie marks comic actor Mike Myers' first foray into directing.
The complete schedule for the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival will be announced on August 20.
