-- David Bowie has revealed that he provided "a brief backing vocal" on the title track to Reflektor, the upcoming studio album by acclaimed Canadian alternative rockers Arcade Fire. The rock legend announced on his Facebook page that the single will be available at 9 p.m. tonight on vinyl at "participating stores across the planet," released under the alias The Reflektors.
You can hear Bowie's contribution to the tune in two newly unveiled videos for "Reflektor" that debuted online. The first clip is an interactive film that can be seen at JustAReflektor.com. It follows a young woman's journey between two worlds. Thanks to some unique programming, the website allows users watching the video to manipulate some special effects with their mouse, phone or tablet. If you allow the website to control the camera of your digital device, you will be able to see your reflection in the clip as well.
The second video is a nearly eight-minute clip that features Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler and multi-instrumentalist Régine Chassagne driving a truck filled with people wearing giant masks that feature each of the band members' faces. In addition to featuring clips of the masked band performing the track in the back of the truck, the video includes footage of a mysterious man in suit made of shards of mirrors, as well as and scenes of the masked group performing some kind of ritual with a giant mirror ball and dancing in front of a coffin filled with baby dolls.
The Reflektor album reportedly will be released on October 29.
