The album boasts a stripped-down sound reminiscent of some of John's earliest releases.

The Diving Board, which was produced by T-Bone Burnett, features 12 new songs co-written by John and lyricist Bernie Taupin, as well as three "piano interludes" composed by Elton.  The record is being sold in various formats, including Standard, Deluxe and Super-Deluxe editions, as well as on 180-gram vinyl.  Amazon.com will continue to stream The Diving Board until September 24.

In other news, John's set this past weekend at the Bestival 2013 event on the U.K.'s Isle of Wight is being sold as a limited-edition CD set exclusively at ConcertLive.co.uk.  The album features two hours' worth of performances from Elton, and buyers also will be to access a free download of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's encore from the show.  A deluxe bundle also is available packaging the Bestival CD set with a digital download of The Diving Board.
