Heart Tapped as Guest Performers at Elton John's 2013 An Enduring Vision Benefit
-- Elton John's got Heart -- the band, that is. The 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees have been chosen as the special musical headliner for this year's edition of Elton's annual An Enduring Vision benefit, which raises funds for his AIDS Foundation. The gala will take place October 15 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
"Just when we thought our year couldn't get any better, we got the invitation that made our eyes open wide," say Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson in a statement. "To be asked to provide music for Elton's An Enduring Vision event is exciting and a double thrill because Elton will be joining us for a song!"
The Wilsons add that they are "are absolutely honored to accept the gig, as our love for Elton is long and legendary."
In his own statement, John says, "I'm so thrilled that Ann and Nancy and their incredible band will be joining us for An Enduring Vision this year. They are amazing musicians, and I just know they will bring the house down."
Ann and Nancy demonstrated their appreciation of John's music by featuring covers of his songs on two Heart live albums. In addition, Ann Wilson included a duet with Elton -- a version of John's "Where to Now, St. Peter" -- on her 2007 solo album Hope & Glory; plus, John was one of the first people the Wilsons allowed to listen to Heart's most recent album, Fanatic.
