-- Heart is planning to deliver a very special Christmas gift to fans, as the band will host a star-studded concert special that will air on AXS TV on the evening of December 25. Heart & Friends: Home for the Holidays will be taped on December 12 at Benaroya Hall in Ann and Nancy Wilson's hometown of Seattle.
The hour-long show will feature the Wilson sisters joined by Sammy Hagar, Richard Marx, Train frontman Pat Monahan and Shawn Colvin. The concert will see Ann and Nancy performing some classic Heart tunes, as well as a variety of Christmas songs, including ones written by Hagar, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Harry Nilsson. The guest singers will be on hand to either duet with the Wilsons or lend backing vocals to the songs.
Among the tunes that will be showcased on the special are the two holiday songs Heart recently released as a digital single. The first is a rendition of the memorable 1960 yuletide number "Please Come Home for Christmas," the recording of which featured Ann duetting with Aaron Neville. The second track is an updated take on the old Welsh folk tune "All Through the Night," with Nancy singing lead and Marx delivering backing vocals.
"We are thrilled and delighted to be joined by our band and our friends on stage to ring in the holiday season for our fans everywhere," says Ann Wilson in a statement.
Heart & Friends: Home for the Holidays premieres at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. CT on Christmas.
