Joe V. Kitchen, Jr.
Joe was born to Joe V. and Mary (Eche) Kitchen on July 3, 1936. He passed away Feb. 18, 2014, at the age of 77. He lived his entire life in the Sumner/Orting Valley, graduating from Orting High School in 1954, where he excelled at football and basketball. He owned a successful construction company for over 50 years; developing, home building, remodeling, rentals, and self-storage. His most notable project being the Puyallup Executive Park Building (aka blue cube). He loved his special friends, the Kings Men car club, horse racing, golf, boating, fishing, and especially crabbing/shrimping with our wonderful neighbors on Hood Canal. He was the past Exalted Ruler of the Puyallup Elks, and former member of Day Island Yacht Club, Fox Island Yacht Club, and the Eagles Boat Club. A special thanks to Dr. Robert McCroskey and the amazing staff at Rainier Oncology. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson Jason. He is survived by his wife of almost 34 years, Judi, his sons James (Kari) and Allen, stepson William Fox, grandson Adam, granddaughter Courtney, and sisters Nadine and Ellen. Mass will be held Wed., Feb 26th, 11:00 a.m., St. Andrews Catholic Church, 1401 Valley Ave., Sumner. Reception to follow at Kelley Farm, Bonney Lake.
