Donald E. Cortright


cortrightd.jpgDonald Eugene Cortright, 79, former resident of Lake Cushman, died peacefully at his residence in Olympia, WA on Saturday, July 9, 2011. Donald was born on September 23, 1931 in Onieda, Kansas to Emery E. and Violet L. (Turner) Cortright. Mr. Cortright worked for the General Accounting Office as an auditor for 31 ½  years before retiring at the age of 55. His first wife of 35 years, Marilyn Milam passed away in 1991. He then remarried to Nancy Gauthier at Lake Cushman and was with her for almost 20 years.

Don was a devout Christian and a member of the Shelton Presbyterian Church and a former Elks member. His hobbies included watching basketball and football, crossword puzzles, playing cards and swimming. He enjoyed planning world travels of which he visited over 90 countries. His family shared that he had a passion for chocolate and singing.

He is survived by his bride, Nancy of Olympia; son, Bradley (Linda) Cortright, Lake Stevens, WA; daughter, Stephanie Longnecker (Michael Moore) Hoodsport; stepsons, Glenn Gauthier, Burien and Bradley Gauthier, Oregon; stepdaughter, Debbie (Ed) Gauthier, Whidbey Island, WA; sister, Rosalie (Larry) Kalb, Arkansas; aunt, Marge Turner, Texas; four grandchildren, three step grandchildren, four step great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Charles.

Services will be held at Shelton Presbyterian Church, 1430 E. Shelton Springs Rd. Shelton on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 2:00 pm.
