William R. Nolte

noltewill.jpgWilliam Robert Nolte, 85, of Shelton, WA died on Saturday, September 17, 2011 in Shelton. William was  born on April 28, 1926 in Everson, WA to Ernest C. and Eva L. (Pritts) Nolte. He graduated from Cowiche High School in Cowiche, WA in 1943.

Mr. Nolte served in WWII for the US Naval Coast Guard and was honorably discharged as a 3rd class petty officer. In February of 1969, he married Tanya Carlson in Aberdeen, WA. William was employed in sales for Associated Grocers and then with Keith Uddenberg Co, a retail grocery chain. Mr. Nolte was an honorary lifetime member of the Elks and a prior member of the Moose and the Eagles. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, pool, and wine making. He enjoyed his boat and spending time with his family. He and his wife Tanya did extensive traveling, visiting Finland, Russia, and much of the United States. They went on many cruises and wintered in Yuma, AZ.

Survivors include wife Tanya, Shelton; son, Dale Reed (Maria), Aberdeen; daughter, Kathy Holden, Ocean Shores; ½ brother Harry Rainford (Gwen), Yakima; cousin, Mickey Meador, North Bend; grandchildren, Robert Reed (Erin) and Melissa Piller (Rob), both of Aberdeen and Michael Martinson, Ocean Shores; eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Ernest E. Nolte.

Funeral services will be held at Hope Chapel, 421 West “E” St, Shelton, WA on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 11:00 am. Donations can be made to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research, P.O.
