George T. Booth

boothgeorge.jpgGeorge Thomas Booth, 83, of Shelton, WA passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Mason General Hospital. George was born on December 23, 1927 to Ernest W. and Eleanor  (Shorter) Booth in Shelton, WA. He graduated from Irene S. Reed High School in 1945, attended Cal-Tech, obtaining his bachelors degree in Education from the University of Washington and his bachelors degree in Economics from the College of Puget Sound.

George served in the US Navy from 1952 until 1954.  In June of 1960, he married Marcia Wallin in Shelton, WA.  Mr. Booth was a teacher for 18 years, teaching in South Kitsap, Tacoma and Southside School, here in Mason County. He was also a coin dealer for a number of years. George was a member of the Elk’s Club, Mason County Pioneers, the Mason County Historical Society and the Little Skookum Community Club. He enjoyed volunteering at Treasures and at the Caboose. George was a collector and enjoyed ancient history and watching sports. He was very friendly, had a wonderful sense of humor and really enjoyed going out to eat, good food, and especially a good piece of prime rib. He was very fond of his cat “Pearl”.

Mr. Booth is survived by his wife Marcia, Shelton; daughter, Sharon Booth, Long Beach, WA; granddaughters, Ann Marie Booth, Long Beach, WA and Sarah Snow, Sherman Oaks, Ca; great grandson, Noah Woodward and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill, sister Eleanor Ann and twin sister, Georgena.

A memorial will be held  at the Shelton Elks Lodge, 741 SE Craig Rd, Shelton, WA on Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 1 until 3.
