Joyce W. Snyder

SnyderJoyce.jpgJoyce Winifred Snyder, 83, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 in Shelton, WA. Joyce was born on April 5, 1928 to Alfred and Emily (Edwards) Wynn in London, England. Joyce was one of four children and attended school in London until the school was bombed during World War II.  She met her husband George, of 66 years, at a skating rink in England while he was stationed there. They eventually married and she came on a ship all by herself in March of 1946 to join him and start their life together. She worked for Olympia Oyster Co. and also Cook’s Plant Farm until its closure. She then went to work for Mason General Hospital in the laundry and linen department for many years. Joyce had a real love for flowers and enjoyed gardening and traveling. She was a wonderful cook and baker, baking wild blackberry pies and tasty cinnamon rolls for the neighborhood and family. She was always active in Cub Scouts and 4H Clubs when her sons were growing up. She enjoyed her family and was always by her husband’s side spending time together. Joyce is survived by her husband George; granddaughter, Paula Blandin; great granddaughter, Deray Blandin; and great great granddaughter Sarai Sayasane, all of Shelton. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings and sons Bryan and Leslie. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of America, 12721 30th Ave NE, Ste 101, Seattle, WA 98125.
