Wesley E. Johnson

JohnsonWesley.jpgWesley E. Johnson, 85, of Skokomish Valley, Washington, passed to the Lord on Friday, May 4th. Wes was born October 8, 1926, in Shelton, WA. He graduated from Irene S. Reed High School in 1944, Seattle Pacific College in 1950, and Arizona State University in 1964. He married Peggy Wright in 1950, and they raised their four children in Edmonds, WA, while Wes served as a teacher and administrator in the Seattle Public Schools. He retired from education in 1982, and returning to the Skokomish farm where he was raised, pursued a second career in farming and public service.
Among his many activities and interests, Wes served as an elder at First Baptist Church of Shelton, on the boards of the Peninsula Credit Union and Mason County Christian School, and as Mason County Commissioner. While in Edmonds, he served as a deacon and Superintendent of a Sunday School of 800 students at Esperance Baptist Church, and as a director of the Greater Seattle Sunday School Association.
 He loved and served the Lord and his family above all. He is survived by his four children, Kathleen (Bruce) Arnold, of South Hadley, MA, Gary (Linda) Johnson, of Edmonds, Wes (Kathryn) Johnson, of Everett, WA and Rick (Alyson) Johnson, of Matlock; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, his sisters Edith Johnson of Shelton, Francis (Carl) King of Selah, WA, Esther (Don)  Cunningham of Union, WA, and brother Haldane (Pat) Johnson of Skokomish Valley and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Johnson, his parents, Arvid and Alvina Johnson, sister Evangeline Miller, brother Stanley Johnson, and grandson Jeremy Johnson.
A family graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 12th, followed by a public memorial service at First Baptist Church of Shelton at 2:00 p.m.
