LyonDon.jpgDonald Lee Lyon, 81, of Shelton, WA died on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Mason General Hospital. Don was born on August 25, 1931 to Donald R. and Arta (Givens) Lyon in Mabton, WA. He moved to Shelton shortly after his birth and married Phyllis A. McGee in Reno, NV. They were married 38 years.
Don worked as a foreman for Dan Wilson’s Lath mill on the Shelton waterfront. When the mill shutdown, he and his wife opened up “Don’s Second Hand” store where they worked for another six years.
He was a member of the Eagles and the 40 et 8 Club. His hobbies included woodworking, working on cars, cutting wood, trips to Reno and watching old westerns and sci-fi movies.  His children described him as being ornery, mischievous, and that he had a wonderful sense of humor. He especially enjoyed joking and teasing his son Jackie and all of his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He will be missed by his beloved wife, family his poodle “Fiesty” and 30 pound cat named “Baby”. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; sons, Ted and Jimmy Lyon, Jackie Krueger; daughters, Cindy Pike, Donna Davis and Barbara Giles; stepson Richard Emsly; stepdaughters, Bernice Langley and Carolee Bernal, all of Shelton. He had 40+ grandchildren, 30+ great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter Robin Sweitzer.
