Donald Milford Shellgren Jr

ShellgrenJr_Donald_M.jpgDonald Milford Shellgren Jr., 68, died on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Mason General Hospital of a cardiac event during recovery after open heart surgery.  He was born on August 9, 1944 in Olympia, WA to Donald Milford and Jean Barbara (Anderson) Shellgren Sr.  Donald was a resident of the Belfair, Allyn area for 65 years. On May 23, 1964 he married Madelon Rarey in Bremerton, WA.  He was employed as a supervisor with Simpson Timber Co. for over 30 years and with Olympic Panel Products for 10 years.  Donald was a member Lake Limerick County Club, Lakeland Golf and County Club, president of mens club at Lake Limerick for several years, coached for North Mason Pee Wee program, coached for Shelton American Legion Baseball Club, football coach for Hawkins Middle School, assistant baseball coach at North Mason, and he coached Bobs Tavern basketball.  He enjoyed playing golf, collecting baseball card, and landscaping.  Donald was a sports enthusiast and played co-ed softball and water sports.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Katherine Shellgren.  Donald is survived by his wife, Madelon Shellgren of Belfair, WA; sons, Steven Shellgren (Joyce) of Fremont, NE, Scott Shellgren (Shannon) of University Place, WA and Dave Dirksen (Miye) of Tacoma, WA; daughter, Lori Dean (David) of Shelton, WA; sisters, Vicky Dudley of Bremerton, WA, Candice Mao of Tacoma, WA, Shelly Renner of Port Orchard, WA; eleven grandchildren, two beautiful great granddaughters, numerous nieces, nephews cousins and an inner circle of close friends.  Memorial donations can be sent to the North Mason High School Baseball Program, 200 E Campus Drive, Belfair, WA  98528.  A memorial service will be held at Lake Limerick Country Club on Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
