Rebecca S. Napoleon

Napoleonreb.jpgRebecca Sue Napoleon, 55, Kamilche, WA passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 6, 2012. Rebecca was born on May 22, 1956 to Lewis R. and Elsie I. (Natt) Nopoleon in Crescent City, CA. She attended school in Crescent City and married Leroy Black in December of 1973 in Taholah, WA. They divorced but have remained close friends.
As well as being a full time homemaker, Becky had worked in lily fields, in a fishery for the Quinault tribe, as a custodian for the Squaxin tribe and also dug clams in Alaska. She was a member of the Shaker Church and the Women’s Circle of Kamilche. Her tribal name is “Da-shoots” meaning “strong one”. Her hobbies included camping, hunting, fishing, traveling, swimming, reading, home video filming and collecting eagle feathers. Her greatest love was that of her children and grandchildren and her family will remember her for her wonderful sense of humor.
She is survived by daughter, Lolita Black, Taholah; sons, Daniel Napoleon, Kamilche, Stanley Napoleon, Taholah; sister, Deborah Napoleon-Obi, Kamilche; brother, Lewis “Robert” Napoleon, Kamilche; eleven grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service was held at the Squaxin Island Gymnasium on Monday, March 12, 2012. Donations can be made to the family (contact person is Gloria Hill 360-229-6324) or to an animal charity of the donor’s choice. The family was served by McComb Funeral Home.

 

Loretta M. La Berge

Loretta May La Berge, 79, died on Monday, March 12, 2012 at Mason General Hospital. Loretta was born on May 17, 1932 to Dominic and Adeline (Crivellone) Rogers in Pasco, WA. She graduated from Milwaukee High in Oregon. She married Jean La Berge in Longview, WA and was a full time homemaker raising eight children. Loretta enjoyed gardening, crocheting and was an avid reader. She owned a rabbit named “Bunny”, finches and a couple of canaries. Her family will remember her as being very religious and serious, but a very loving woman that loved her children and family very much.
She is survived by her sons, John La Berge, Allyn, WA, Ronald La Berge, Shelton, Thomas La Berge, Grapeview and Gerald La Berge (Abita), Grapeview; daughters, Paula La Berge, Shelton, Theresa Criss (Jon) Belfair, J’Anna Frisby (Matt), Belfair, and Janell Chandler (Eddie), Battleground, WA; sister Mary Webb, brother Frank Rogers, 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.
At her request no services will be held. Donations can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family was served by McComb Funeral Home.

Robert J. Jurin

JurinRobertJ.jpgRobert John Jurin, 87, Shelton, WA, died on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Harstine Island Adult Home Care Center on Harstine Island, Shelton, WA. Bob was born on March 31, 1924 to John and Emma Jurin in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated in 1942 from Carl Schirs High School in Portage Park, received his engineering degree in 1948 from the University of Illinois and also attended the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Robert served in the US Air Force from 1943 until 1945 as a pilot. Bob’s daughter, Robin, said that her dad was a little daring in his younger years, and during his Air Force training flew his plane under the Golden Gate Bridge.
He married JoAnne Neff in Tacoma, WA. Bob was an engineer. With his brother in law, Al Wislow, he founded the Black Hawk Co, in Chicago. Bob developed and patented a finishing machine, for which he still holds the patent. Mr. Jurin was a member of the Shelton Kiwanis. His hobbies included gardening, building things, fishing, card playing, swimming, and traveling. He and JoAnne spent the winters in Yuma, AZ for three years. Bob enjoyed walking his dog and played the French horn. His family remembers him as a quiet, gentle man who was a very gracious host.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnne; daughters, Jill Duggin, husband Mike and children, Chris and Andrea, Robin Popovich, husband Larry, Wendy Neaf, husband Art, children, BJ and Dayna and Vicky Jurin and daughter, Tina; stepchildren, Michael D. Cross, wife Loni, children, Jacob, wife Laureen and child, Courtney, Shelly Benson, husband Carl, children, Hannah and Garrett, Garth Cross, wife Nikki, children, Brandon Morrison and Bailey, and Carolyn Olson and children, Ashley and Blake.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and a sister.

A memorial service will be held at the Shelton Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 3:00 pm. The family was served by McComb Funeral Home.
