Free Days In Washington State Parks

WAstateParksWashington State Parks is offering three “free days” in June, starting with the free day scheduled for Saturday, June 1.

On “free days,” visitors are not required to display a Discover Pass for daytime visits to Washington state parks. Saturday, June 1, is a State Parks free day in conjunction with National Trails Day.

Recreational Halibut Season Closed

 

The recreational halibut fishery off the north coast of Washington is now closed after reaching the seasonal harvest quota, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) announced tuesday. Anglers reeled in 107,856 pounds of halibut in marine areas 3 (La Push) and 4 (Neah Bay) through May 18, leaving just 174 pounds remaining, said Heather Reed, WDFW coastal policy coordinator. While the state fishing rules left open the possibility of additional days of halibut fishing, there is not sufficient poundage left to reopen for another day in May or June, Reed said.

Trail Closures In Capitol State Forest

The North Rim motorized trail (near the North Rim #2, #3 split) has been re-routed onto a forest road. The Loki motorized trail has been closed at the KC line and the ORV park tie trail is closed.
