Some WA Cougar Hunting Areas To Close Dec. 31

wsdfw400Cougar hunts in several areas of the state will close at dusk on Dec. 31 now that harvest guidelines for the animals have been reached in those areas, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) announced Thursday.

Sport Crabbing Closes Dec. 31 Reports Due By Feb. 1

crabPuget Sound marine areas currently open for recreational winter crabbing will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31, after which all sport crabbers licensed to fish for crab in the Sound will have until Feb. 1 to report their winter catch.

Eight-Day Razor Clam Dig Will Stretch Into New Year

rclameveningClam diggers can ring in the new year with an eight-day razor clam dig on ocean beaches that starts Dec. 29 and stretches through Jan. 5. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) approved the dig after marine toxin tests showed the clams are safe to eat.
