Sport Crab Fishing July 1
The recreational crab season gets under way July 1 in most of Puget Sound, where fishery managers with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) expect another good summer fishery. All but one marine area in Puget Sound will open for crab fishing July 1.
Helicopter Firefighter Crews Prepare For 4th
Wednesday afternoon, Helitack (helicopter-attack) firefighter crews trained in Colville to get ready for the Fourth of July weekend, and the rest of the summer. The extended weekend brings more people into the woods, which increases risks of accidental fire starts.
Lake Quinault Closed To Nontribal Use
The president of the Quinault Indian Nation says Lake Quinault has been closed to all nontribal uses, including fishing, swimming and boating. Fawn Sharp tells KBKW that the Quinault Business Council approved a June 4 resolution prohibiting swimming and boating on the lake.
