Forest Map Wins Award

The mapping experts agree: DNR's new Capitol State Forest map was named the People’s Choice Award winner at a conference hosted by Esri, a geographic information systems (GIS) developer. Esri hosted a Forestry GIS (geographic information systems) Conference in Redlands, California, to bring together the organizations that use GIS for forestry every day. GIS is used to collect and analyze data. DNR and many other agencies and organizations use these systems to collect the data necessary to create accurate maps. The People’s Choice Award is a source of valuable feedback for DNR, signifying that the new Capitol State Forest map is a step in the right direction.
