According to the majority of men who participated in a survey, no. In the study of more than 17,000 people by Chapman University's David Frederick and colleagues from California State University and Wellesley College, almost 64 percent of men said they believe women should fork over some cash on a date.

And nearly 44 percent said they would cut ties with a woman if she never paid part of a bill. Then again, the majority of males -- 76 percent -- said they feel guilty when a woman ponies up the dough. Fifty-seven percent of women said they offer to help pay a bill on a date, though 39 percent secretly wish that the man will reject the offer. Nearly 44 percent of women said they were bothered when men asked them to help cover the costs of the date.
