The City of Shelton is looking for a new top cop for the City. Current Police Chief Dave Eklund announced his retirement effective May 15, 2014. City Administrative director Dave O’Leary reviewed two recruiting firms, The Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC); and Prothman, a private recruiting company utilized recently by the City to recruit and hire the Public Works Director.
O’Leary requested the City Commission approve the Prothman firm to recruit a new Chief of Police. O’Leary emphasized the need to find the right person with the skill set to perform the duties of police chief. Total cost for recruitment is estimated to be under $21k.
Lieutenant Les Watson will be acting Police Chief until a replacement can be hired.
