National Drug Take Back Day is this Saturday and many Law Enforcement Agencies will be participating. Citizens in Mason County can drop off their unwanted prescription medications either in Belfair or at the Sheriff’s Office in downtown Shelton.
These boxes are available for use 24/7. The collection box in Belfair is located at the Fire District 2, Station 1, off old Belfair Highway. The downtown Shelton box is located at 322 N 3rd Street.
In Thurston County, unused and expired prescription medication can be dropped off at a collection site from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, this Saturday, The collection site is at the ROOF Community Resource Center which is located at the corner of SR 12 and Bend St SW in Rochester, Washington. This collection event gives people the opportunity to dispose of unwanted prescription medication in a safe, convenient, and responsible manner.
A young man with a local Boy Scout troop will be assisting the Sheriff’s Office in promoting this event as part of his Eagle Scout project. His hope is to raise awareness of prescription drug abuse among teens and young adults.
