Mason County Commissioners sent out their 2015 Preliminary Budget Preparation Guidelines to the elected officials and the department heads today. The letter had one commissioner's signature missing from the signature page. Commissioner Sheldon declined the signing of the letter of instruction. KMAS News asked Commissioner Sheldon why he choose to decline signing the letter of instruction.
Sheldon stated he feels budgeting to the 2014 Budget levels is too high, as revenues for the 2014 Budget contained one-time revenues (the $1M timber sale) which will not be available in 2015. Sheldon feels the county needs to be more realistic in planning for 2015 expenditures and feels current spending expectations are too high.
