2 Dead In Shooting In Olympia

police-tapeUPDATE: The Thurston County Coroner has released the names of the Lakewood couple who die in a murder-suicide shooting Wednesday afternoon. They are 53-year-old Ronald Ray, and 38-year-old Brenda Ray. Police found the couple near Tolmie State Park after a call from a passerby. Brenda died at the scene and Ronald died on his way to the hospital.

Deputies recovered a semi-automatic pistol at the scene. The coronor says autopsies will be performed today. The victims' two children - a 16-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son - are staying with family members. August 1, 2014

The Thurston County sheriff's office says a man and a woman have died in an Olympia-area shooting. Lt. Cliff Ziesemer says the woman was pronounced dead at the scene Wednesday afternoon. The man died while being transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. The couple has not been positively identified but it appears that they are a 39-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man from Lakewood.

Detectives from the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office recovered a semi auto pistol and two spent shell casings that were located near the couple. Preliminary investigation is that they both died from apparent gunshot wounds, the male from a self-inflicted gunshot and the female was shot by her husband. Detectives made contact with their two children in Lakewood where the couple resided. They have two children, 16 year old daughter and a 13 year old son. The children were placed into protective custody by CPS and turned over to other family members. The shooting happened about 10 miles north of Olympia. OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — July 31, 2014
