Police Chase In Shelton
Late Thursday evening, Shelton Police Department officers were advised of a reckless driven vehicle in the area of South 12th and May Ave. An officer located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle and conducted a routine traffic stop. The suspect vehicle stopped for a few seconds before speeding off. The officer pursued the vehicle and was advised by dispatch the suspect vehicle, a 2008 Dodge pick-up, was reported as a stolen vehicle out of the city of Elma Washington.
At one point the driver of the stolen vehicle rammed a pursuing police department vehicle and attempted to run over an officer. The pursuit ended when the suspect lost control and crashed into a fence and several parked cars in the area of 300 block of South 7th.
The driver and a passenger fled on foot and a Mason County Sheriff’s Office K9 Team responded but failed to locate the driver or passenger. A third occupant was detained at the scene.
King County Sheriffs Office Guardian One helicopter also responded to assist in the search for the two fleeing suspects. No one was injured as a result of this incident and no arrests were made at this time.
