Press Release Details:
TCSO detectives have made an arrest in a series of crimes that have occurred in Thurston County waters in recent days. On August 5th at about 8:00 pm, a homeowner on the waterfront in the Fishtrap area of Dana Passage reported that he'd had a physical altercation with a male suspect who was attempting to steal an outboard motor. The victim tried to stop the theft and was assaulted with punches and strikes from an oar. After the robbery attempt, the suspect fled in an inflatable boat with an outboard motor. The theft was not completed.
As investigators looked into this case, additional reports were taken by deputies. Two incidents from Otis Beach on Johnson Point revealed that a gun and camping supplies had been taken from a moored boat and that a 12' aluminum boat and its contents had been stolen from its moorage.
Investigators identified a person if interest who was positively identified by the robbery victim. Arrested for that robbery was:
-Shanon Ray Meadors, a 43 year old Boston Harbor area resident.
During the service of a search warrant at Meadors' property, additional suspected stolen items were located. Detectives have linked these items to a waterfront burglary in Dana Passage as well as a theft from a boat in the Sunset Beach area. Additional charges against Meadors are pending.
Detectives are still looking for a 12' aluminum SeaKing boat with an Evinrude outboard motor. The boat has blue plastic beach wheels on the transom.
Anyone with additional information about these crimes is asked to call Detective Dave Claridge at 360.754.4395 or CrimeStoppers at 360.493.2222.
