Poll: Most Happy with Their Health Care Coverage
(NEW YORK) -- Most Americans believe there are major problems with the nation's health care system. However, a majority of people who currently have health coverage are happy with it, according to a new Gallup poll. These contradicting views suggest that the difficulties associated with the rollout of the Affordable Care Act may be reinforcing positive views of personal coverage.
Personal satisfaction with medical coverage is at 69 percent with Americans rating it either good or excellent.
Yet, just 32 percent give the same marks to the overall quality of health care in the U.S.
Meanwhile, 52 percent say there are major problems with the health care system and 21 percent believe it is in a state of crisis.
Interestingly, these opinions don't differ much from 20 years ago when then-President Bill Clinton tried but failed to institute health care reform.
