LAPD Officer, Motorists Save Man from Burning Car on Christmas Day

b_250_0_16777215_00_images_obgrabber_2013-12_767df54cbd.jpgKevork Djansezian/Getty Images (LOS ANGELES) -- An off-duty police officer and two citizens helped pull a driver from a burning car on Southern California’s 405 Freeway on Christmas Day. The car was travelling in the northbound lane Wednesday afternoon when it hit the center divider and became engulfed in flames. A Los Angeles Police Department battalion chief witnessed the incident and quickly called 911. He and two other motorists worked to remove the driver from the vehicle, saving his life.

The driver of the car, a male, was treated and transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. The officer was treated for minor injuries on the scene and taken to an urgent care facility by an LAPD supervisor.
