Ice Storm Blamed for 11 Deaths, 550,000 Lose Power

The streets of Raleigh, N.C., were jammed with abandoned cars as the ice storm moved in swiftly, crippling traffic. It was reminiscent of the scene in Atlanta during the last ice storm, which stranded motorists on icy streets and highways.

Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin Convicted of Corruption Charges

Nagin, 57, who now lives in Frisco, Texas, served two terms in office that included a turn in the national spotlight during Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath.

Police Search for Carjacking Suspect and Victims

Police have issued an Amber Alert, and are trying to track down the red sedan they believe the two are in. “We are looking for and would like to locate person of interest. His name is Roy McCamey,” Johnna Watson of the Oakland Police Department told reporters at a news conference.
