BART Police Officer Dies in Accidental Shooting

Officials say the two were performing a probation search inside an apartment Tuesday evening. Sgt. J.D. Nelson, a spokesman for the Alameda County Sheriff's Department, said, "The person that they were searching for was not at the residence but, at some point during that search, one officer fired and fatally struck the other officer."

Parasailing Accident Victim a ‘Strong Believer in God’

Sidney Good went on a parasailing adventure in Panama City, Fla., in July. Good and her friend Alexis Fairchild were parasailing in tandem when the line pulled loose from the boat that was towing them. In an accident that was caught on camera, the teens slammed into the side of two buildings and hit a power line before hitting a parked car on the ground.

One Dead in Purdue University Shooting

Police said the victim was a male senior and also a teaching assistant. Purdue University Police Chief John Cox said Cody Cousins, 23, of Warsaw, Ind., is being held in the Tippecanoe County Jail on a preliminary charge of murder.

Texas Attorney Charged with Assault in Alleged Road Rage Incident

Susan Sciacca, 55, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to the Tomball, Texas, police, she said she became angry after a vehicle cut her off as she drove along a suburban Houston highway last Friday afternoon.

Nation Prepares for More Snow, Bitter Cold Temperatures

Snow started to fall across the Midwest Tuesday morning, as much as 6 inches in some towns.  That total could rise to nearly a foot by late morning. Meteorologists expect the storm system to reemerge off the coast of Virginia, blowing into a significant coastal storm for the East Coast -- bringing heavy snowfall and bitter cold from Virginia to New England.
