Obama’s CIA General Counsel Nominee Disagrees with NSA Ruling

Caroline Diane Krass, the principal deputy assistant attorney general at the Justice Department, whom President Obama nominated Nov. 7 to be the CIA’s general counsel, told the Senate Intelligence Committee today that she had a “different view” of the Fourth Amendment.

NSA Metadata Collection Violates Privacy: Federal Judge

b_250_0_16777215_00_images_obgrabber_2013-12_76774c88d3.jpgiStock/Thinkstock (WASHINGTON) -- A federal judge ruled in favor of two challengers to the NSA surveillance program Monday, finding that they will likely succeed in showing that the bulk collection program violated the Fourth Amendment. “The Plaintiffs have a substantial likelihood of showing that their privacy interests outweigh the Government’s interest in collecting and analyzing bulk telephony metadata and therefore the NSA’s bulk collection program is indeed an unreasonable search under the Fourth Amendment,” wrote U.S. District Court Judge Richard J. Leon.
