Former NY Gov. Spitzer Announces Divorce from Wife

Spitzer and Silda Wall Spitzer were married in 1986, the New York Times says, and on Christmas Eve, the two released a joint statement saying that their relationship "has come to an end." The Spitzers have three children.

Federal Appeals Court Denies Utah's Request for Same-Sex Marriage Stay

The Salt Lake City Tribune reports that the decision came down from the 10th Circuit Court in Denver just before 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The court denied two requests for a stay, which would have stopped same-sex marriages from occurring during the appeal process.

White House Offers Soft Extension of Healthcare Sign Up Date

This is just the latest extension of the deadline by the administration. The original deadline for people seeking coverage that begins Jan. 1 was Dec. 15. It was later extended to Dec. 23 and then Monday the White House added another 24 hours through midnight Tuesday night.

President Obama Signs Autograph for Girl, 10, During Christmas Vacation

During a morning workout at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe Bay, near the president’s vacation rental on the island of Oahu, Obama encountered Kyrstin Lavelle, who apparently asked the president for an autograph. Obama obliged, writing in the little girl’s journal, “To Kyrstin – Dream big dreams!” Underneath the message, the president signed his name.
