The City of Shelton is now accepting letters of interest from individuals to fill positions on the Shelton Human Services Committee. This committee is being established to study, discuss, and make recommendations to the City Commission regarding poverty issues and human services.
- The City Commission is seeking seven (7) volunteer members, representing a cross-section of the community, from the following sectors to represent their respective constituents: the health care community, the affordable housing community, the social services community, and the business community.
- In addition, two members shall be selected to represent education, one student member and one member representing the staff of a public or private school in Shelton, and one member at-large, being a resident of the City of Shelton.
- Committee members are unpaid volunteers, appointed by a majority of the City Commission to three-year terms, except the members representing education and the member at-large shall initially serve a two-year term.
The Human Services Committee shall meet no less than monthly to assist the city in prioritizing the recommendations from the City Poverty Task Force Report and providing the City Commission with recommendations to implement as necessary. Tasks assigned to this committee include assisting with securing grant funding, providing periodic reports on activities to the City Commission, and communicating with outside agencies and organizations.
Letters of interest should be submitted by mail or delivered not later than June 27, 2014 to the Shelton Civic Center, Community & Economic Development, 525 West Cota, Shelton, WA 98584.
