Hispanic Affairs Commissioner Recruitment

The Washington State Commission on Hispanic Affairs (CHA) seeks to fill two (2) Commissioner vacancies. The Commission advises the Governor, the legislature, state and local agencies on policies and practices that affect the Latino community of the state. Interested candidates are encouraged to visit the Commission’s website for more information.

All Commission members serve as volunteers. Travel reimbursements are provided for Commission business. Terms are for three years (with an opportunity for a second three-year term). Commissioners are expected to attend four to six meetings a year, typically held on Friday afternoon and Saturday mornings. These meetings are held throughout the state. Commissioners are also expected to have thorough knowledge of Latino community issues, and have constant communication with legislators, state agency representatives, the Governor’s Office and local elected officials.
