Mason County Road Work

The following construction and maintenance activities are scheduled for the week of August 17-24, 2013. It is a busy year for construction on roadways in the Olympic Region. WSDOT has several projects to improve safety, ease congestion and maintain infrastructure. View the region-wide interactive map.

SR 3, from US 101 to East of Front street in Shelton

TIME/DAYS: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., and 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each Monday through Thursday through September
DESCRIPTION: This project improves SR 3 in Mason County through the City of Shelton by constructing sidewalks and ADA ramps, repaving portions of the highway within the project vicinity, installing pavement markings, and completing minor electrical improvements to the signals.
LOCATION: Both directions of SR 3 from US 101 to east of Front Street, mileposts 0 to 3.65.
EXPECT: Daytime work will involve constructing sidewalks and ADA ramps at intersections.  Night work will be used for pavement-preparation activities. Temporary lane closures with one-way, alternating traffic, and sidewalk/shoulder closures.

US 101, north of Shelton

TIME/DAYS: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., and 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., through November
DESCRIPTION: In this project, crews will reinforce an unstable hillside adjacent to US 101 in Purdy Canyon. 
LOCATION: Both directions, US 101, Purdy Canyon, mileposts 339 to 341
EXPECT: Between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., the contractor may completely close US 101 between Purdy Cutoff Road and Brockdale Road.  A detour will direct motorists onto Brockdale Road, McReavy Road, Dalby Road and SR 106.  The deotur adds 10.5 miles to motorists' trips. Between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., US 101 will be reduced to a single lane with traffic control provided by a temporary signal.

SR 106, Twanoh Falls

TIME/DAYS: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Aug. 19-23
DESCRIPTION: In this project, crews will install a dewatering system to enhance water treatment and install a culvert. 
LOCATION: Both directions of SR 106, at milepost 13.5.
EXPECT: One-way, alternating traffic controlled with flaggers.


SR 3, Mason Lake Rd to Pickering

TIME/DAYS: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Monday through Friday through Aug. 29
DESCRIPTION: A local utility company will install an aerial fiber optics line on existing poles.
LOCATION: Southbound SR 3 between mileposts 7.14 to 12.78
EXPECT: Alternating one-way traffic control using flaggers. Motorists can expect occasional delays in both directions.

SR 3, Belfair

TIME/DAYS: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays through October
DESCRIPTION: Utility crews will relocate a gas main along SR 3 in preparation for an upcoming WSDOT widening project.
LOCATION: Southbound SR 3 through Belfair, mileposts 26.55 to 26.86
EXPECT: Minor delays to traffic with a southbound right shoulder closure.

US 101, Potlatch

TIME/DAYS: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Monday through Thursday through Aug. 29
DESCRIPTION: A local utility company working for the Skokomish Tribe will install a sewer line along US 101.
LOCATION: Northbound US 101 from milepost 334.4 to 335.
EXPECT: Northbound right shoulder closures with occasional one-way, alternating traffic control for equipment and material deliveries.
