A gun turn in and pharmaceutical drug take back event, hosted by the Thurston County Sheriff's Office, will be held this Saturday, October 26th, from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at the McLane Fire Department, 125 Delphi Rd NW Olympia WA 98502. The event is intended to provide an opportunity for anyone who wishes to turn in unwanted firearms, ammunition, or pharmaceutical drugs. This event will be held in conjunction with the National Pharmaceutical Drug Take
Back Day. The Thurston County Department of Health will also be on site. TCSO specialty units will have equipment on display.
"Often times, unwanted firearms are not secured properly and can end up in the hands of people who don't know how to use them or shouldn't have them at all"
Sheriff John Snaza said. "In 2012, 174 firearms were stolen in 106 burglaries in unincorporated Thurston County. Those guns are now on the street and unaccounted for."
