City of Shelton Parks And Recreation Advisory Committee

Shelton, WA-- The City of Shelton is now accepting letters of interest from residents in order to volunteer on the Parks and Recreation Citizen Advisory Committee. The committee currently has two openings. The advisory committee is a permanent group that meets monthly to assist the city in delivering parks and recreation services to its residents and visitors. Anyone interested in this position must live in the City of Shelton or the City’s Urban Growth Area, or own or mange a business in the city limits. Tasks assigned to the committee include recommendations on future park planning and improvements, recommending recreation program services, recommending regulations and rules of use for city park facilities, and serve as a liaison between citizens and the city commission on parks and recreation related matters. Mason County Law Enforcement & Fire Fighters Disability Board (LEOFF) Vacancy

The Mason County Law Enforcement & Fire Fighters Disability Board (LEOFF) is seeking an individual to fill the firefighter position on the Mason County LEOFF Board. The term is for two years. This person must be a LEOFF Plan 1 or 2 firefighter employed by or retired from an employer within Mason County and shall serve without compensation.The general purpose of the LEOFF Board is to consider claims for disability and sickness made by law enforcement officers or fire fighters as provided under the Washington law enforcement officers’ and fire fighters’ retirement system act. MGH&FC Hosts Free “Women’s Health Event” In October

SHELTON, Wash. – October is “Breast Cancer Awareness Month” and Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics invites all women in the community to a free Women’s Health Event on Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Main (south) Entrance of Mason General Hospital.  
Join the fun and “take control of your life” as MGH&FC healthcare professionals offer valuable health guidelines to all women on good nutrition, heart health, diabetes awareness, and more – plus information on the HPV vaccine that prevents most cases of cervical cancer.  There will also be free blood pressure screening and diabetes testing, healthy refreshments served, and mini massages offered by volunteers from Kaleidoscope Massage in Shelton.

NMSD School Board Meetings

The North Mason School District Board of Directors will be having several board meetings during the month of August.  On August 14, 2014 @ 6:00 pm (5:30 sign-in) they will hold a community forum for future decisions regarding Theler Wetlands and Community Center.  This meeting will be held in the North Mason High School Commons.  The regular board meeting is scheduled for August 21, 2014 at 6:30 pm  at the District Administration Office, 71 E Campus Drive, in Belfair.
