Southbound I-5 In Tumwater Reduced To One Lane Saturday Night

Nighttime drivers on southbound Interstate 5 near Tumwater will see double-lane closures overnight Saturday, Oct. 18. Crews will begin closing lanes near Tumwater Boulevard at 9 p.m. An hour later at 10 p.m., two of three southbound lanes will close

. One southbound lane will remain open for traffic. The closures will occur between mileposts 100 and 97. During the closures, crews will make repairs to two bridges previously struck by an over-height load. All southbound lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 19.

Washington’s Unemployment Rate Inched Up In September

After eight straight months of job growth, employment dipped in Washington on a seasonally adjusted basis by an estimated 600 jobs in September, according to economists with the state Employment Security Department. At the same time, the preliminary seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose one-tenth of a percentage point to 5.7 percent. The U.S. unemployment rate was 5.9 percent in September.
