WSDOT Announces Amtrak Cascades Schedule Improvements

(WSDOT Press Release) – Amtrak Cascade’s Seattle evening departure to Portland is getting a welcome change starting July 11. Train 509 will depart at 6:05 p.m. –­­­­ 35 minutes later than the current schedule. This permanent change better accommodates business travelers, and also gives visitors more time to enjoy Seattle.

In addition, Amtrak Cascades passengers will enjoy quicker trips between Seattle and Portland this summer. From July 11 through Sept 13, 2015, daily trains numbered 500, 501, 507, 508, 509 and 516 will arrive at their final destinations ten minutes sooner. What has been a three hour and 50 minute trip will now be three hours and 40 minutes. Two of the trains will experience slight changes in their departure times, with the 501 train leaving at 7:25 a.m. and the 507 leaving at 2:10 p.m.

July 11 & 12 - Be Alert, Plan For Delays For STP Bike Ride

10,000 cyclists expected to travel through western Washington. (WSDOT Press Release) - Drivers should take extra care and prepare for travel delays as the 2015 Group Health Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic (STP) rolls through western Washington beginning Saturday, July 11.

Organizers expect 10,000 cyclists to travel on state highways and local roads during the popular event. The Washington State Department of Transportation asks drivers to share the road, keep a sharp eye and allow extra time for travel. Bicyclists also are reminded of their responsibility to follow Washington’s rules of the road.

Asset Building Coalition Of Mason County Hosts Monthly Classes At The Timberland Regional Library

SHELTON, WA- The Asset Building Coalition of Mason County (ABCMC) will be holding financial education classes on the second Tuesday of each month from 1:00-2:30pm at the Shelton Timberland Regional Library. Different topics will be presented each month. All classes are free and open to the public.
