Work Scheduled for Park Roads: Motorists Advised to Expect Delays

Road crews began work to remove dirt and debris from drainage ditches along park roads today.  Roads will remain open throughout the work, but some traffic delays are anticipated.
The maintenance work will improve road drainage and provide safer conditions for motorists.
Sol Duc Road: Motorists may encounter northbound delays of up to 15 minutes September 30 through October 1.
Whiskey Bend Road: Motorists may encounter delays of up to 60 minutes October 2.
Deer Park Road: Motorists may encounter delays of up to 30 minutes October 7 - 8.
Hurricane Ridge Road: Motorists may encounter delays of up to 15 minutes October 9 - 10.
Motorists are advised to slow down, be alert for construction equipment and workers, and use extreme caution when passing mobile work zones.

Friends of Olympic National Park Fall Clean-Up October 4

The public is invited to participate in a work party hosted by the Friends of Olympic National Park (Friends) on Saturday, October 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Olympic National Park Visitor Center located at 3002 Mount Angeles Road in Port Angeles.This event will focus on cleaning the area around the visitor center.  Projects will include pruning, exotic plant removal, weeding, raking, and local trail maintenance.  
Participants are asked to meet in the visitor center parking lot at 9:00 a.m. Some tools will be available, but participants are urged to bring their favorite hand tools and gloves.
This is the third in a series of bi-annual work sessions the Friends plan to host at the park.
“These events are designed to address park maintenance needs and provide an opportunity to bring together the Friends membership, park volunteers, and the public,” said Friends of Olympic National Park President David Morris.  “We hope that as many people as possible can participate in this effort.”
