According to Japan Today, 29 people are injured in the city of Koshigaya alone. Most of the Koshigaya victims are volleyball players at a local middle school. The tornado destroyed homes, uprooted buildings, and overturned cars, leaving debris scattered throughout the streets.

Some electricity poles were snapped, cutting power to about 33,000 homes, Japan Today reports. Emergency responders are cleaning the destroyed areas and providing residents with evacuation shelters.
