(KABUL, Afghanistan) -- A so-called "green on blue" attack in eastern Afghanistan Thursday has left one service member of the International Security Assistance Force dead. In a press release, NATO says an individual wearing an Afghan National Security Force uniform opened fire at ISAF troops, killing the soldier. The suspected gunman was then killed.
According to NATO, the scene of the shooting is now secure and ISAF and Afghan officials are looking into the matter.
The identity of the fallen service member has not yet been made public. Per ISAF policy, the soldier's identification has been deferred to national authorities.
