Talks to End Syrian Conflict Resume in Geneva

United Nations envoy Lakhdar Brahimi, who is brokering the talks, says that the two sides will discuss forming a transitional government and ending the bloodshed that has cost an estimated 100,000-130,000 lives since March 2011.

Warm Weather at Sochi Makes It Difficult to Compete

Up on the slopes, there is bare earth where there should be snow, and the mercury has topped 60 degrees. In the women's downhill, slush challenged American Laurenne Ross, who lost her ski in a fall. But nothing stopped California's Julia Mancuso from skiing to bronze in the super combined.

Openly Gay Medalist 'Cuddles' with Putin

Dutch speedskater Ireen Wust told Dutch national broadcaster NOS, "I got a cuddle from him," at a party held in her honor. "He congratulated me and asked if everything was OK in Russia and I congratulated him on (Russian speedskater) Olga Graf, of course, for her third place (in the 3,000 meters).

Iran Claims Warships Getting Close to US Waters

If what Adm. Rezayee Haddad says is true, it would mark the first time an Iranian fleet has actually approached American maritime borders, presumably in response to U.S. vessels in the Persian Gulf.
