In front of a crowd of about 40,000, Clayton Kershaw pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed one run on five hits with seven strike outs in the victory. The game was delayed because of rain for 14 minutes and the Diamondbacks bus got a flat tire on their trip to the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Scott Van Slyke hit a two-run homer off Wade Smiley in the top of the fourth inning to give the Dodgers a 3-1 lead. Miley gave up three runs and three hits, striking out eight with two walks after getting the start this week when Patrick Corbin suffered a season ending left elbow injury. Brian Wilson pitched a scoreless eighth inning and Kenley Jansen recorded the save down under.
