Ryu Leads L.A. Dodgers Past Diamondbacks, 7-5

3-23-14 Ryu A.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1395583560017Matt King/Getty Images (SYDNEY) -- Dodgers starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu struck out five batters over five scoreless innings as Los Angeles (2-0) defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks (0-2), 7-5 at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday, completing the season-opening series sweep.

Outfielder Yasiel Puig led the Dodgers offense with three hits, two RBIs and a run scored. Second baseman Dee Gordon and third baseman Juan Uribe also contributed three hits apiece in the victory. Arizona starter Trevor Cahill allowed five earned runs and eight hits in four innings of work. He also issued four walks while striking out just one.

The 2014 regular season will resume on Sunday night, March 30 with the San Diego Padres hosting the Dodgers.
