Wondolowski Scores Twice As U.S. Defeats Cuba, 4-1

BROWN/AFP/Getty Images(SANDY, Utah) -- Striker Chris Wondolowski scored two goals as the United States defeated Cuba, 4-1 on Saturday to advance to the CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals. With the U.S. leading, 2-1, the 30-year-old Wondolowski replaced Herculez Gomez in the 58th minute and notched his first goal of the game in the 66th with a right footed shot.

His second goal came in the 85th minute with an assist from Edgar Castillo. Wondolowski now has scored five goals in the tournament.

Landon Donovan tied the game for the United States when he converted on a penalty kick in the 45th minute for his 53rd international goal.  Joe Corona would give the Americans the lead for good in the 57th minute.

Up next for the Stars and Stripes, a Tuesday night match against Costa Rica in East Hartford, Conn. The winner will clinch the Group C title.
